Thoughts on Balance

There are times when we don't want to hear the messages being delivered by the soulful voice mail. I'd rather not answer to the messages of anything less than what I want to hear. Who wants to hear a message from a collector of things, or one whose sole wish is to take things from me. We want life to be full. Simply put, we want what we want. And sometimes it takes an army of angels to deliver the news we so do not want to be part of the plan.

Plans schmanz.

Sometimes we just can't plan because the Plan decides the plan. Our frameworks just look silly in the face of our attempts to control what happens in life. As much as we want the clear black and white simplicity, or to champion the intricacy, the Plan really is gray. We can provide a framework, but the Plan fills in the details, try as we might.

We get sparks of lightness and bright inspiration, love, joy and peace.
We get dark chasms of trouble and sadness, loss, helplessness and grief.
Together it is all gray.

Is it really balance to have equal parts black and white?
Or is it more indicative of balance in gray?

It's certain and proven that without the dark moments, we will not see the light. The black does not exist without the white and cannot truly be appreciated unless the light is also present. The opposite is also true; As bright as white can be, spatters of the unexpected black contrast with the white and form clouds of grayness when they combine.

Yet, no matter how sweet a life of white would be, they have to exist together. We cannot have one without the other. The balance appears on its own if we listen for it.
See it.
Calm the noise and listen to the army of angels.

"If you listen, you will hear
the angels wings.
Up above our heads so near
they are hovering."
